2023 Club Awards

They say it's not all about the winning but it is certainly more fun when you do. We celebrated a great season for the club, the first in our new pavilion, with the Annual Awards dinner in a packed main lounge. There is a full list of winners below and you will see Jack Whittington (pictured) won three for his batting heroics, which helped the 1^st XI to promotion. The Trevan Hingston Trophy (named after our former President who died this year) is for the player with the most Man of the Match nominations - this year shared by five players, so the engraver was very happy! 

The Molly Hide Award is relatively new and named after the trail-blazing England player who once lived on Blackdown. 'Fernhurst Diamond(s)' is for the person or couple who have gone 'above and beyond'. Club stalwart Mike Allen was thanked as he steps back into the ranks after many years as 1^st XI skipper and, recently, Club Captain. There was also a presentation for Rob Unwin who stepped down as Juniors' Manager after a decade at the helm. Like Mike, Rob's contribution to the club has been immense. Just one example would be coaching the lad who worked his way up through all the junior teams, the Sunday and 2^nd XIs to become a star player for the 1^st XI. You've guessed it, Jack Whittington.
