Fernhurst Flames gear up for season

“Playing cricket at Fernhurst with like-minded women is one of the best things I ever did.”
It was the quote of the season when one of the Fernhurst Flames players said this to Libby Adey, who chairs the team and represents it on the main committee. "We pride ourselves in having a fun and friendly atmosphere," said Libby. "As generic as that sounds it really is true! We have the most supportive and welcoming coaches, all of whom trust and believe in our mission. One of the most important things is to ensure this environment is safe and nurturing, not only for our junior players but for our women too. I strongly believe our women and girls section has the most incredible dynamic. Fernhurst CC is home to strong, independent women who back each other and work together to do something we all enjoy."

The Flames are always looking for new players and all the equipment can be provided. Libby said you simply have to bring yourself, "One thing about softball cricket is there really is no limit, we welcome everyone to come and give it a go! The best thing about women’s softball is that anyone can do it, we have women and girls from all walks of life and playing cricket is what has united all of them."

"It is essential the women’s section is blended with the whole club and we are very fortunate to have such a supportive men's section at Fernhurst. Loads of the women say how welcoming everyone is and how we really do feel like a family.  Since we started in 2019 the Flames have come on leaps and bounds. Over the years we have experienced so much. One of those was winning the first ever season of the women’s I’Anson league! It would be hard to pick a favourite or funniest moment as all we do is laugh, there really is never a dull moment!" Go on, give it a go - just email us on the contact tab above.
